Counselling students and trainees
The sixty or more hours of personal therapy required of counselling students & trainees prior to qualifying can evoke diverse and contrasting thoughts and feelings as therapy progresses, including:
- a unique opportunity to explore and gain further understanding of self
- uncertainty about how to use the time for maximum benefit
- a weekly 'chore' activity within an incredibly demanding schedule
- an obligation 'required' as part of the course
- an experience of real support as the pressures of the course ebb and flow
- a significant expense with uncertain gain
- a valuable opportunity to experience a 'clients' view of therapy...
I offer a calm, inviting environment and adapt my practice to meet the varying needs of a trainee counsellor as they journey towards qualification and accreditation.
My own practice is an integration of psychodynamic, humanistic and jungian traditions. In addition I have training in cognitive behavioural therapy. I feel this combination offers the possibility of a rich therapeutic experience that can mirror the counselling orientation of most courses.
Optionally, I can also offer a number of specific personal development experiences that encourage access to our less conscious thoughts, feelings and beliefs. These use creative approaches, for example including using shells, art, music and archetypal preferences.
I can offer fixed price, competitive packages of therapy sessions to cover the duration of your course and give you certainty about costs.
